KARACHI, October 21 – 43rd meeting of Board of
Governors of Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, presided over
by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Jawaid Hassan Rizvi held to review and
approve different proposals and suggestions in the benefit of the university.
The Board approved the recommendations of the
inspection team of Higher Education Commission to establish a faculty of
postgraduate studies and research. Approval was also given to implement a
unified pay scale for all faculties.
In the meeting, options to recruit highly
qualified faculty were discussed and the members of the BOG emphasized to bring
in more efforts for research activities by the faculty members and to develop
research culture in the university.
Development of postgraduate programme on modern
lines was also reviewed in the meeting and a proposal came to provide
scholarships for PhD programme to the students of technically and
scientifically advance countries.
Board also reviewed the 5th Inspection report of
the Charter Inspection & Evaluation Committee (CIEC) and expressed deep
satisfaction over the achievements of Sir Syed University and wished to
continue for the development and improvement of the university in light of CIEC
recommendations with the same spirit in future.
It was discussed to
offer competitive and attractive salaries to bring in highly qualified and
experienced faculty members. Suggestion was also made to give incentives to the
faculty members for their research work.
The members who attended the meeting of BOG
included Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, Prof Dr M.D. Shami, Justice (R) Fazl-e-Ghani,
Engr Muhammad Adil Usman, Cdre (R) Salim A. Siddiqui and Registrar Shah Mahmood
H. Syed.
