Chehlum of Imam Hussain (R.A) today
Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) sacrificed his life for the cause of Islam and to give eternal lease of life to the high values of humanity.
The arrangements have been finalized to bring out processions in different parts of the country. The city administrations have also prepared a contingency plan to maintain law and order and provide foolproof security to the processions.
Cellular phone services have been suspended in 46 districts across the country while many cities faced closure before time due to Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
According to details, Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Peshawar, Faisalabad and many other cities are facing cellular blockade for security reasons on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
Mobile phone networks in different districts of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit, Azad Kashmir, South Waziristan have also been suspended.
Ban on pillion riding has also been imposed in several cities to maintain law and order on Chehlum.
All the streets and roads leading to the routes of processions have been closed with barbed wires.

SIR SYED UNIVERSITY
OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY
KARACHI, Jan 2 _ Preparations have started for start of new
classes at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology.
While admission process has completed, the university has decided
to start the new first semester session from January 21 while classes for rest
of the semesters will commence from January 24.
The university has started arrangements for the “Orientation Day”,
a ceremony which marks the beginning of new semester, on January 21.
On this day the students are addressed by the Chancellor,
Vice-Chancellor, Chairmen of various departments and the Registrar who educate
the new entrants about their responsibilities and guide them about their
academic activities.
The university conducts courses in engineering disciplines of
Computer, Electronics, Civil, Bio-Medical and Telecom besides computer science.
The university at present has over 6000 students in these
engineering fields on its roll. It has been granted the highest category by
Pakistan Engineering Council as well as by Higher Education Commission.
