Chief Justice takes notice of 54 members’ fake degrees

SLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chauhdry has taken notice of 54 parliamentarians’ fake degrees, SAMAA reports.

The Chief Justice has taken this notice after seeing news story in local newspaper on Saturday while expressing amusement that still no action has been taken against those fake degree holders.

The Supreme Court has fixed hearing of this suo moto case against fake degree holder parliamentarians on April 1, and notices have been mailed to the Chairman of Higher Education Commission and Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan, for appearing before the court.

ECP receives 3,000 nomination papers, completes scrutiny of 1,000 candidates


SLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has received 3,000 nomination papers and completed scrutiny of 1,000 candidates so far, SAMAA reported on Saturday.

The last date for candidates to file their nomination papers will end on Sunday (tomorrow), the final day of March and as last day is getting closer the rush, of candidates, in returning officers’ offices is also mounting to manifolds.

Chauhdry Asghar of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) filed Imran Khan’s nomination papers for NA-156 in Rawalpindi and former president of the SBC, Ali Ahmad Kurd, has filed his papers for NA-155.

So far, the Election Commission has received over three thousand nomination papers and it has completed scrutiny of 1,000 papers from those.

In the mean time, the Election Commission has demanded utility bills and lists of the defaulters from all institutes while requesting full cooperation from those all.

At the other side, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced to keep its Customer Service offices open on Saturday and Sunday to facilitate former members of the assembly.

Maulana Fazal to announce party manifesto in Lahore rally today

LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman will present his party’s manifesto in his Lahore rally at Minar-e-Pakistan today, SAMAA reports.

Maulana held a press conference in Lahore on Saturday and talked to the journalist in a very pleasant mood.
He said in talks with the journalists that there is no valid reason for delay in polls and there is no hurdle in holding of elections on fixed time.

The JUI-F chief expressed sorrow over non-revival of the MMA and declared his party manifesto better than all other political parties.

While replying a question about Pervez Musharraf, Maulana Fazal said that no retired army general could do Pakistani politics.

Judicial Commission approves Shehzado Sheikh’s appointment in Shariat Court

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission on Judges Appointment has given its approval for Justice (Retd) Shehzado Sheikh’s appointment as Clerical Judge in Federal Shariat Court for one year, SAMAA reports.

According to sources, the Judicial Commission held a meeting in Islamabad on Saturday; there it approved a proposal for appointment of Justice (Retd) Shehzado Sheikh in Federal Shariat Court.

Justice (Retd) Shehzado Sheikh has retired from the Shariat Court on March 25 and now the Judicial Commission has given approval for his appointment in Federal Shariat Court.

The Judicial Commission has sent its approval tom the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointments.

SC to start hearing of NAB Chairman plea against contempt case on Monday

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will start hearing of NAB Chairman, Fasih Bukhari’s intra-court plea against contempt of court case on Monday, SAMAA reports.

A five-member bench has been formed to hear plea of NAB Chairman against contempt court from Monday, April 1.

The NAB Chairman has already challenged court’s verdict on indictment of crime.

PTI to unveil manifesto next week: Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that Pakistan is going to witness the biggest match of its political history in the days to come.

Speaking to party volunteers here on Saturday, Khan said that coming elections would be a battle between ideology and money. “Our volunteers will make house-to-house visits to explain PTI’s manifesto to people,” he said. “We are going to form a new Pakistan,” he pledged.

“We will train 10 volunteers for one polling booth to stop any attempt to rig the polls.”

The PTI chief said that there would be no house or factory without electricity supply over the next five years. He also lashed out at the rival PML-N for trying to bribe youth through laptop scheme.

Khan said that his party would unveil its party manifesto next week
