Govt announces Eid holidays from Oct 26-29

Islamabad: Eid Al Adha holidays for the ministries and federal institutions will start from Friday, October 26, (Friday) and end on Monday, October 29, (Monday) according to a notice issued by the Interior ministry.
KARACHI: Eid Al Adha holidays for the ministries and federal institutions will start from Friday, October 26, (Friday) and end on Monday, October 29, (Monday) according to a notice issued by the Interior ministry.  Eid-ul Adha would be celebrated on October 27 Saturday in Pakistan as crescent was sighted on Wednesday in the country.  The ministry forwarded a summary to Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, who has taken final decision in this regard. With Oct 27 and 28 being Saturday and Sunday, the federal government employees will get a four-day Eid break.

Sir Syed University observed Liaquat Day

Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology celebrated 117th Birth Anniversary of Nawab Liaquat Ali Khan and a seminar was organized in collaboration with Quaid-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan Memorial Committee, to mark Liaquat Day at the campus. Noted speakers paid rich tribute to the services of Nawab Liaqat Ali Khan during Pakistan Movement and as first Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Addressing the seminar Engr Adil Usman said that we are living in an independent state with complete respect and dignity as a result of hard struggle by the leaders like Nawab Liaquat Ali Khan for creating a new state in the subcontinent.

He fully supported and assisted Mr Jinnah in his long and arduous journey which was finally rewarded on 14th August 1947. His unflinching support, his commitment and dedication brought him extremely close to Quaid-e-Azam.

Earlier senior Aligarian Saeed Siddiqui said “Liaquat Ali Khan was a courageous leader and despite immense pressure he refused to devalue the currency of Pakistan and presented three surplus budgets in a row.

Mehfooz-un-Nabi Khan said that youth may bring revolutionary change in the society with social commitment. He emphasized to build Pakistan following the ideology of Liaquat Ali Khan.

Umar Khan, Sana Haider and Nazeer Channa also spoke on the occasion. Renowned poet Khumar Farooqui presented poetic tribute to the great leader Nawab Liaquat Ali Khan.
