"Israeli air strikes on Gaza violate international law: PM"
During a telephone call, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and Prime Minister Ashraf discussed the situation in Gaza.
The Egyptian president called on Pakistan to lend its support to the issue if it is brought up in the UN Security Council.
Prime Minister Ashraf further said peace in the Middle East was not possible without resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
A Foreign Ministry press release on its website states : Pakistan has consistently extended unequivocal and unreserved support to the Palestinian cause. Pakistan believes that unless the Palestinian problem is resolved, peace in the Middle East will remain elusive. We support the quest of the state of Palestine for membership of the United Nations and we believe that Palestine cannot be denied this right anymore.
Pakistan strongly condemns Israeli air attacks in Gaza that have targeted not only the Hamas leadership but also innocent civilians. Israeli threats of a ground offensive against Gaza are even more disturbing. We are also deeply concerned that an escalation in the violence could lead to a spreading of the conflict to engulf the region. Pakistan considers the Israeli action as a grave violation of international law and all humanitarian norms.
We call upon the international community to come together to stop the Israeli aggression forthwith and to work in unison for a peaceful resolution of this festering issue.

I have taken this decision and will keep taking such measures until the law and order situation improves as the supreme court questions me why I did not take punitive measures to curb violence,” he asserted.
Expressing concern over the lack of interest of the parliamentarians in the legislation to track down terrorists, the minister said that he had introduced anti-terrorism bill in the Senate some three years back but it was still pending with the upper house due to the lack of interest of the lawmakers.
He said he had also introduced two more bills in the parliament to plug the legal lacunae but to no avail.

SHC suspends Motorcylce Ban in Karachi
KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Musheer Alam has dismissed the directive of the Ministry of Interior regarding the ban on motorcycle riding in Karachi. The SHC chief justice issued the order suspending the ban on motorcycle riding on an application filed by the Sindh Bar Association on Thursday late night.
IG Sindh and Advocate General to appear before the court at 11:00am on Friday Today. Chief justice summoned the Sindh advocate general, interior secretary and Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh at 11:00am today (Friday). Earlier, Interior Minister Senator Rehman Malik imposed a ban on motorcycle riding for one day on Friday from (6:00am to 7:00pm) in Karachi and Quetta.
Talking to the media after a session at the Interior Ministry on Thursday, he stated that the motorcycle riding had been banned due to information of terrorism and no one would be exempted from the ban.
Rehman Malik also strictly prohibited using vehicles without proper documents during the briefing.
Shops in Karachi and Quetta have also been told to shut their business before five in the evening. They would remain open from 10am to 5pm. The Karachi Tajir Ittehad has rejected this decision. Mobile phone services in both the cities would remain suspended from 10 am to 5 pm.
Malik’s decision shock Karachiite’s.
Commenting on Malik’s decisions, many Karachiites believe that with no cell phones functioning in Karachi, the ban on riding motorcycles and the closure of shops, would make the city look like a jailed warzone, cause inconvenience, loss of millions and the workers on daily wages cant even survive. Citizens sarcastically advised the government to impose curfew in the city during the first 10 days of Muharram so that people could remain confined to their homes.
