“Karachi: 5 family members injured in overnight robbery bid”
KARACHI: Five members of a family were injured on Tuesday night during a robbery bid in Karachi.
According to reports, armed men forced their way into a house near Jangal School in Baldia Town and demanded cash and jewlery.
On facing resistance, they opened fire, leaving five people, four brothers among them, injured. They were shifted to Civil Hospital, where two are said to be in critical condition.
Police say they have launched a probe into the burglary. SAMAA

Aligarhian from India visits SSUET
Karachi, Nov 27 – Chancellor Sir Syed University of
Engineering & Technology Z.A. Nizami has said that having achieved
commendable success in developing information and communication technology, the
university has emerged as a modern educational technology hub contributing
significantly to both knowledge acquisition and innovation.
He made the remarks while speaking at a
reception held for the visiting senior Aligarian Rifaqat Ali Khan from India
during a visit to SSUET. He said the new initiatives taken at this university
had provided a boost to creative and research potential and the innovative
measures taken towards this direction infused a new spirit of confidence in the
academic and administrative work culture here.
Recalling the memories at Aligarh Muslim
University, Chancellor Nizami said that he had spent a very eventful and
productive life there and spoke about some of the episodes of activities.
Speaking on the occasion, the senior
Aligarian Rifaqat Ali Khan observed that establishment of Sir Syed University
was a historical initiative that proved to be a milestone in the educational
development of the nation. He said that
existence without education for a nation, particularly in the present era, is
not possible and will serve just as a dream. Time has come to catch up with
changes fast taking place globally and assign top priority to education.
Rifaqat Ali Khan asserted that torch
bearer of Aligarh Spirit have an onerous responsibility of promoting education
without discrimination in every walk of life.
The Aligarian from India did Master’s
and PhD in History from Aligarh Muslim University where after he joined Jamia
Milia and retired as Head of Department of History. His wife is also an
Aligarian who did Masters in English from Aligarh University. Later she joined
Dehli University and retired as Professor of English from the university.
Earlier the Vice chancellor SSUET, Prof
Dr Jawaid Hassan Rizvi welcomed the distinguished visitor and informed that Sir
Syed University, which started with only
200 students in 1994, today has more than 5000 students on roll. “The
university focus on quality education and try to improve it,” he added.
PPP-MQM reconciliation destroyed peace of Sindh, says

the PPP and MQM have destroyed peace and economic infrastructure=re of

Nawaz Sharif said while talking to media in Lahore on Tuesday that people of Sindh have rejected controversial Sindh People’s Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO) as this name tag Local Government law is an effort of divide in Sindh public.
Under local government law, mayors of few cities have been rendered unlimited powers, the PML-N chief added while saying peace condition has deteriorated further by this decision. SAMAA
