“Nawaz should quit politics following Asghar Khan case verdict” – Imran Khan"

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has stated that Nawaz Sharid should quit politics following the verdict announced by the Supreme Court with respect to the Asghar Khan case.
Talking at the 11th Internation Cancer symposium on Friday, Imran said that he himself would quit politics if it is proved that he received any money from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Talking about President Zardari, Imran stated that Zardari’ stance did not seem neutral following the Swiss case decision.
Imran attested General Kayani’s statement whereby the Chief of Army Staff had stated that institutions should act within their limits.
The Asghar Khan case verdict has shaken the political arena after the Supreme Court declared that the general election held in the year 1990 was subjected to corruption and corrupt practices as in view of the overwhelming material produced by the parties during hearing it had been established that an “Election Cell” had been created in the Presidency, which was functioning to provide financial assistance to the favored candidates, or a group of political parties to achieve desired result by polluting election process and to deprive the people of Pakistan from being represented by their chosen representatives.

"Asghar Khan Case: SC orders action against Baig, Durrani"

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued detailed verdict in Asghar khan case ordering action against Former Director General ISI Lt Gen (retd) Asad Durrani and Former Chief of Army Staff Gen (retd) Aslam Baig.
Last month the court announced its short verdict, in which declared that the general election held in the year 1990 was subjected to corruption and corrupt practices as in view of the overwhelming material produced by the parties during hearing it has been established that an “Election Cell” had been created in the Presidency, which was functioning to provide financial assistance to the favoured candidates, or a group of political parties to achieve desired result by polluting election process and to deprive the people of Pakistan from being represented by their chosen representatives.
The court ordered FIA to investigate the case and collect all the money with the interest rate from intelligence agencies including ISI and MI.
The court ruled that both Durrani and Beg brought a bad name to Pakistan and its armed forces as well as secret agencies in the eyes of the nation. “Notwithstanding that they may have retired from service, the federal government shall take necessary steps under the Constitution and law against them,” said the short order.
The court also ordered the initiation of legal proceedings against the politicians who allegedly received donations to spend on election campaigns in 1990 and directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct a transparent investigation on the criminal side against all of them and if sufficient evidence was collected, they should be sent for a trial according to the law.
